What do you want prospective patients to understand about you and your style or approach to medicine?

"My approach is to educate patients about healthy choices and options for treatment for problems they are having. I think a good physician patient relationship is based on communication and collaboration and also good scientific based medicine."

-- Dr. Dey

Since 2001, Dr. Christian Dey has enjoyed working in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is very dedicated to her patients and takes as much time as needed to explain a diagnosis or answer questions. Her patients describe Dr. Dey as an extremely kind person who is always willing to listen to their individual needs or concerns. Her favorite part of being a physician is the opportunity to care for women throughout their entire lives – from the painful periods in a teenager, to the excitement of pregnancy and delivery, to the care of women as they navigate menopausal changes.

Dr. Dey received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy with an emphasis in medical ethics from Duke University. She is also a graduate of the Wake Forest School of Medicine. She completed her medical school residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at UAB Hospital with special recognition for excellence in laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery.

Dr. Dey is a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and has served on several hospital committees including Medical Executive Committee, the Operating Room Committee, and as Department Chairman of OB-GYN. She is also a member of Women in Medicine, the St. Vincent’s Co-management Committee and the OR Committee for both St. Vincent’s East and St. Vincent’s Birmingham.

She and her husband, Dr. Gerry Dey, have two sons. They love to travel as a family, especially to destinations that offer skiing and ziplining. She is also active in her church and local community. During her down time, Dr. Dey enjoys reading and spending time with her family
