Meet our Physicians

Lee DuBois, M.D.

Dr. Dubois is a lifelong resident of Birmingham and grew up and went to school in the Roebuck area. He recieved his undergraduate degree from UAB and his MD degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine.  He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at UAB and is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  He is a founding partner of Eastern OB/GYN and has practiced exclusively at St. Vincent's East (formally known as Medical Center East) since 1984.   

He has a special interest in high risk obstetrics (especially multiple gestations) as well as gynecological surgery--both vaginal and robotic. He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys all manners of shooting sports.

Bryan Pruitt, M.D.

Dr. Pruitt has been a physician with Eastern Obstetrics and Gynecology since completing his residency in 2000. During that time he has participated on several committees at St. Vincent's East Hospital including the Medical Executive Committee and Patient Care Committee, and he is currently serving on the Ethics and Cancer Committees. He is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He and his family have lived in the Birmingham area since 1992 when they moved here for him to begin medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine at UAB. He stayed at UAB for residency training. Prior to that, he was an officer in the United States Navy and served as the assistant weapons officer on a submarine out of Charleston, South Carolina.

He and his wife Jan have been married for twenty-eight years, have four children, reside in Hoover, and are active in their church and community. In his leisure, he enjoys reading and studying and is working on a PhD in philosophy.

Christian Dey, M.D.

Dr. Dey completed her undergraduate degree at Duke University with a B.A. in Philosophy with an emphasis on medical ethics.  She attended medical school at Wake Forest University before moving to Alabama.  She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at UAB in 2001 with special recognition for excellence in laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery and joined Eastern OB/GYN at St. Vincent's East upon graduation.  She is a Board Certified OB/GYN as well as a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.  She has served on several hospital committees during her tenure including Medical Executive Committee, the Operating Room Committee, and as Department Chairman of OB/GYN.  

In her personal life, she has been married to Dr. Gerry Dey for 20 years and they have two boys.  She is active in her community and church and enjoys reading, snow and water skiing, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Elizabeth Hellums Blair, M.D.

Dr. Blair is an Alabama native. She went to medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine and then stayed for residency training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she was awarded Best Teaching Resident and elected Chief Resident. After residency, Dr. Blair joined our practice in 2007. She enjoys caring for both obstetric and gynecologic patients. Her expertise ranges the full spectrum of gynecologic care from adolescent care, menstral disorders, and contraception to postmenopausal concerns, hormonal management, and pelvic prolapse. She is skilled in many types of gynecologic surgery, including vaginal and robotic surgery. She also manages complex pregnancy conditions such as hypertensive disorders, diabetes, and twin pregnancies. Her favorite part of practicing medicine is treating the whole patient and focusing on overall wellness and health.  

In her personal life, she is married with two sons. She doesn’t have much spare time, but she does enjoy exercising, playing the piano, photography, and spending time with her family and friends.

Gretchen McCreless, M.D.

Dr. McCreless is originally from Cleveland, Ohio.  She attended college and medical school at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland before coming to the University of Alabama at Birmingham for residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology.  She did research in the area of gynecologic cancer and ovarian masses during her time at UAB.  She is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.  She has a special interest in adolescent gynecology, but treats women of all ages with all varieties of gynecologic problems including hormone management, menstrual irregularities, and pelvic prolapse.  She is also trained in laparoscopic, vaginal, and robotic surgery.

She attends Church of the Highlands and is very involved in small groups and with serving in the nursery. She is also a big sister in the Big Brother Big Sister program.  She enjoys reading and outdoor activities including hiking, kayaking, and running.  She is reccently married and she and her husband are busy organizing their new home located in the Birmingham area.
